Cierra Edwards, Ph.D.
Psychologist | Founder
Dr. Cierra Edwards is a Psychologist and Founder of the Mood & Anxiety Disorders (MAD) Clinic of Richmond. Dr. Edwards has served as a Psychologist with the Central Virginia VA Healthcare System and the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System functioning within their Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Programs (BHIP).
Dr. Edwards’ clinical practice focuses on helping people who struggle with obsessive-compulsive thinking and behaviors, as well as anxiety and challenging mood states. Her clinical areas of interest have largely been influenced by her time growing up in the rural Appalachian coalfields - oftentimes seeing how people with challenging mental health symptoms would go unaddressed and untreated.
Dr. Edwards saw that many people would go untreated due to having reduced or absent access to providers, the stigmatization of mental health treatment, and financial barriers. Due to these factors, Dr. Edwards wanted to create a practice that provided high-quality mental health services to the underserved and rural communities that Dr. Edwards herself has interacted and been immersed in - thus, the MAD Clinic of Richmond was born!
